Rosco's premier range of color filters, Roscolux, is manufactured using a unique technology to insure the longest possible life under hot theatrical lights. 

Material Construction for Performance

Roscolux is comprised of two types of plastics, Polycarbonate and Polyester.  Not all dyes and plastics are compatible, therefore Roscolux utilizes both plastics to achieve maximum performance.

Roscolux is produced using polycarbonate due to the superior heat qualities when compared to other plastics.  In practical terms, this helps the gel hold up better in demanding rigs where heat and long run times can cause lower-grade filters to warp, soften, or fade.

Thickness and Temperature Specifications

Gel thickness varies by color saturation, ranging from 3 to 5 mil. Material temperature characteristics include:

• Polycarbonate melting point: 220 deg C
• Polycarbonate softening point: 160 deg C
• Polyester melting point: 300 deg C
• Polyester softening point: 125 deg C

Each sheet measures 20" x 24", a convenient size for cutting to fit barn doors, frames, gel holders, and other common lighting accessories.
