ETC Ion Xe provides complete control of conventional and moving lights, LEDs and media servers, built for productions that need a fast, flexible programming workflow and dependable playback. It supports multiple users with partitioned parameter control and full backup, making it a strong fit for venues and teams where programmers, operators, and designers may need to work simultaneously. The desk includes backlit buttons for clear operation in dark control positions.

Programming and Playback Workflow

Ion Xe operates in a tracking, move-fade environment and provides multiple playback faders and cue lists for hands-on control during rehearsals and live shows. A central information area (CIA) provides access to the browser and other controls, and the console includes four pageable encoders for non-intensity parameter control to speed up fixture adjustments.

Scale, Multi-User Control, and Show Management

Designed to grow with your rig, Ion Xe supports 2,048 outputs and 16,000 control channels (any number from 1 - 99,999). It can accommodate up to 99 discrete users, with partitioned control to help avoid conflicts when multiple operators are working at once. Four discrete palette types (IFCB) plus presets that function as an “all palette” help standardize looks across a show and speed up updates.

Effects, Color Tools, and On-Console Visualization Aids

Effects provide dynamic relational and absolute progressive behavior for building movement, intensity, and color changes that remain editable as your show evolves. For color-critical work, Ion Xe supports up to six abstract color spaces, along with tinting, spectrum and fade path tools. User configurable, interactive Magic Sheets help create a show-specific control surface for quicker navigation and fewer button presses.

Network Output and Compatibility

Ion Xe supports ETCNet2 and Net3 (powered by ACN), ArtNet and Avab UDP network output protocols, and includes two individually configurable Ethernet ports for flexible network design. For touring, rep plots, and venue upgrades, the console supports show import from Obsession, Express, Expression, Emphasis, Congo, Cobalt, Grand MA1, Grand MA2, Safari and Strand 500/300 Series.

Connectivity, Timecode, and Media Server Support

For synchronization and external control, Ion Xe offers multiple MIDI and/or SMPTE TimeCode Inputs, Analog/Serial Inputs, and OSC transmit/recieve. It also includes a Virtual Media Server function for pixel mapped effects, images, and animations, supporting modern LED and media workflows alongside conventional cueing.
