The Robe MMX is a technology discharge fixture that has similar light output to most existing 1200W luminaires. The unit is based on the all new Robin advanced technology design that provides Brighter, more efficient, physically lighter and smaller fixtures than previously possible. The MMX includes the Robe exclusive Hot-Spot lamp control feature that allows remote adjustment of flat beam uniformity or power beam hot-spot.

Dual Graphics Effects and Beam Shaping

Key feature of the MMX is the 'Dual Graphics Wheel', 2 fully controllable contra-rotating plates that can be positioned anywhere across the light path to produce unique visual effects. For show design flexibility, the fixture also supports motorized zoom and focus, an iris with pulse effects up to 3 Hz, a separate variable frost effect, and a rotating 5-facet prism (bi-directional, variable speeds) to widen and animate looks without changing fixtures.

Color, Gobos, and Output Control

Color mixing is handled via CMY (Cyan 0-100%, Magenta 0-100%, Yellow 0-100%) plus CTO (0-100%) for warmer color temperature looks when needed. In addition to the 6 dichroic filters plus white on the colour wheel, the MMX includes a rotating gobo wheel (7 rotating, indexable, replaceable "SLOT&LOCK" glass gobos + open) for textured aerial and projection-style effects. Dimming and strobing are available across a full range, including variable strobe and the electronic strobbing "ZAP" effect.

Movement, Control, and Networking

For programming and positioning, the fixture offers 540 degrees pan and 270 degrees tilt with 8 or 16-bit resolution options, plus tracking and vector movement control. It supports USITT DMX-512, RDM, ArtNet, MA Net, and MA Net2, with 4 DMX protocol modes and control channel options of 38, 31, 29, or 40. Connectivity includes an Ethernet port (Art-Net protocol, ready for ACN), locking 3-pin and 5-pin XLR data in/out, and a built-in analyser for easier fault finding. An optional wireless version is available using CRMX technology from Lumen Radio.

Onboard Interface and Physical Specs

Setup is managed through ROBE Navigation System 2 (RNS2) and a QVGA Robe touch screen with battery backup, a gravitation sensor for auto screen positioning, operation memory, and a service log with RTC. Physical dimensions are 722 mm (28.4") high with head in vertical position, 446 mm (17.6") wide, and 530 mm (20.8") deep, with a weight of 25.5 kg (56.2 lbs).
