The ROBE ROBIN BMFL WashBeam is a hybrid wash/beam moving head designed for concerts, touring rigs, houses of worship, and large event productions that need punchy aerial effects and clean surface projection from the same fixture. Its wide 180 mm front lens helps produce a large, bold beam, while the custom light source designed for Robe delivers an astounding 300.000 lux at 5 metres for strong mid-air presence and long-throw looks.

Optics, color, and beam shaping

For precise look-building, the BMFL WashBeam combines CMY color mixing (cyan, magenta, yellow each 0-100%) with variable CTO from 2.700-6.000 K, making it easier to match cameras, tungsten environments, or cooler daylight palettes. Two color wheels expand fast color changes and repeatable cues, including 6 fixed dichroic colors (deep red, deep blue, orange, green, magenta, congo blue + white) and a second wheel with 6 replaceable “SLOT&LOCK” colors (pink, lavender, laser green, 9.000 K CTB, minus half and minus green + white).

The 4-blade framing shutter system provides individually positionable blades plus rotation of the complete frame system +/-45°, enabling crisp shutter cuts for scenic elements or controlled beams for IMAG and stage spill management. A motorized, stepless iris supports pulse effects up to 3 Hz, and multiple frost options (Variable Light, Medium, plus replaceable Heavy with two additional frosts included) let you move from tight beam looks to smoother wash textures.

Gobos, animation, and effects

A rotating gobo wheel with 6 rotating, indexable, replaceable “SLOT&LOCK” glass gobos (plus open) supports textured beams and spot-like projections on surfaces. An aluminium animation wheel can be used alone or combined with gobos, rotating in both directions at variable speed for dynamic in-air motion. The separate dual blade shutter system delivers variable strobe effects up to 10 Hz and full blackout, and the optimized dual blade dimmer is designed for exceptionally smooth fades.

Movement and control

Fast, repeatable positioning comes from 540° pan and 270° tilt, with standard and speed movement control and controllable pan/tilt speed to balance snap moves with smoother transitions. Motorized zoom and focus help keep edges and projections controlled as throw distance changes.

Lamp and physical details

The fixture uses a compact short-arc metal halide lamp (PGJX28 base), approved model OSRAM Lok-it! HTI 1700/PS, with a rated lifetime of 750 hours at 1700 W / 1500 W / Quiet mode, CRI 92+, and 6.000 K color temperature. Dimensions are 826 mm (32.5") high, 483 mm (19.0") wide, 335 mm (13.2") deep, with a weight of 38.4 kg (84.7 lbs).
