Sound Devices PIX 260i Production Video Recorder/Player
Description
These units show signs of heavy wear but are in good working condition.
The rack-mounted Sound Devices PIX 260i is a file-based video recorder/player designed to replace tape-based video decks in production and post-production workflows. It records and plays high-quality HD video and multichannel audio directly to ready-to-edit files, helping crews move from acquisition to editorial without time-consuming transfers or transcoding.
Recording Codecs and Edit-Ready Files
Using Apple ProRes and Avid DNxHD codecs, the PIX 260i records and plays high-quality 12-bit 4:4:4 high definition video as well as 32 tracks of 48 kHz audio. Files from the PIX 260i are ready for direct import into popular editing environments such as Avid and Final Cut. It can also play out of the PIX 260i for real time applications, making it a practical choice for on-set playback, studio ingest, and post suites that need dependable deck-style control with modern file-based media.
Storage, Networking, and Control
For redundancy and flexible media management, the PIX 260i supports simultaneous recording to two caddy-connected drives and two eSATA-connected drives. It also supports file transfer over a data network via SMB (PIX 260i drives are read-only), and includes an embedded web server for machine transport over ethernet-based networks. External RS-422 control is supported for integration into established broadcast and post-control environments.
Audio I/O, Sync, and Embedded SDI Audio
Audio connectivity includes 8 line-level analog inputs and outputs plus 8 channels of AES digital audio I/O. The unit can record and play up to 16 channels of embedded SDI audio, and supports embedding and de-embedding audio from analog, AES digital, and Dante, with up to 32 channel audio using Audinate Dante. For sync-critical workflows, the PIX 260i includes time code support and a genlock master generator.
Monitoring, Conversion, and Physical Specs
An integrated 5-inch precision IPS display (800 x 480) provides confidence monitoring and menu access at the rack. Built-in hardware scaling and a frame rate converter help match formats when working across multiple sources or deliverables, and the PIX 260i can playback QuickTime files from Final Cut sessions.
