The VARI*LITE VL2500 Spot luminaire is a 700-watt moving head spot designed for stage, theatre, and live event lighting where clean optics, flexible color, and reliable movement matter. It remains small, lightweight, and fast with a 700-watt shortarc lamp, impressive lumen output, and a zoom range from 18.5 degrees to 42 degrees, giving you the ability to go from tighter aerial looks to broader coverage without changing fixtures.
Color, optics, and beam shaping
To support a wide range of looks, the VL2500 Spot provides three-wheel CYM color mixing for smooth cross-fades and precise color control. When combined with 11 standard colors on a fixed wheel, the color options are practically limitless, which is especially useful when matching scenic palettes, balancing camera needs, or building layered color effects across a rig.
In addition to its continuously variable zoom (programmable over timed ranges from 2 seconds to 20 minutes), a mechanical iris provides continuous beam size control for both rapid changes and smooth, timed beam angle adjustments. Variable beam focus helps you sharpen or soften edges for crisp projections or more blended texture.
Gobos and effects for texture and projection
For pattern work, the fixture includes one rotating gobo wheel with five rotatable, indexable gobo positions and one open position, plus one fixed gobo wheel with 11 easily loaded patterns and one open position capable of continuous rotation for additional effects. A high-performance dual blade strobe system supports ultra-fast operation for accents, hits, and rhythmic looks.
Movement and control integration
Pan and tilt are smooth and time-controlled using three-phase stepper motor systems, with 540 degrees of pan and 270 degrees of tilt, and 0.3 degree resolution for accurate focusing and repeatable cues. Control is completely compatible with a wide variety of DMX512 consoles, using 22 DMX channels, making it straightforward to integrate into most touring or installed control workflows.
